A Grand Plan With Tangible Results of PM Surya Ghar Yojana
PM Surya Ghar Yojana is not a scheme about just energy, it is a scheme about empowerment. The scheme has attractive subsidies of ₹30,000 for 1-kW systems, ₹60,000 for 2-kW systems and ₹78,000 for 3-kW rooftop installations. The target is 10 million households by March 2027.

Around 45% of those who installed the device reportedly have no foreign electricity charges at all, and the scheme is drastically reducing electricity bills.
Uttar Pradesh Undergoes Transformation With Rooftop Adoption

Uttar Pradesh has added capacity at a blistering pace even as Gujarat and Maharashtra are still ahead of it at the national level in terms of solar adoption. Lucknow, the district that has installed the highest number of rooftop solar panels. It is leading the state with 11,435 rooftop solar panels installed so far. Other large cities like Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, and Prayagraj have similar rising interest, together adding thousands of domestic solar units.
As per state government data, 17.75 lakh registrations are completed, and 3,200 homes have solar panels already installed. The Yogi government has planned to provide solar energy to 25 lakh homes in the state in a big way and has set district-wise and DISCOM-wise targets to speed up the implementation.
Adoption Treasurer Double Subsidy with PM Surya Ghar Yojana
The dual subsidy structure is one of the most appealing features of the scheme in Uttar Pradesh. For a 1-kW setup, the Central Government and the State Government provide ₹30,000 and ₹15,000 to households, respectively. For these, the subsidy goes up to ₹1.08 lakh, which means that solar energy is not just sustainable, it is highly affordable too.
