Ladki Bahin Yojana: Maharashtra Government Clarifies Benefits to Remain Intact, No Decrease
In an effort to dispel fears amongst millions of women across Maharashtra, the state government said that the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana will continue to be in full form, even if the financial aid under the scheme will not be cut. The claims are false, officials said, adding that every eligible woman was still being given their ₹1,500 a month — either directly or via an extra payout.
Leaders Rule Out Shift On ₹1,500 Support – No Decrease in Ladki Bahin Yojana
Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister and the state’s finance minister, also firmly rejected concerns that the plan had been buried. In remarks to reporters, he said the program was well-funded and fully supported by the current budget. There is no intention to end or reduce the initiative, he assured us.
This popular scheme, which was described as a “game-changer” in last year’s state elections, aims to provide direct funds in the men’s account every month to women who do not benefit from direct financial aid under other government schemes.

Some Women Gets ₹500, Not ₹1,500?
The confusion started when reports suggested that around 7.74 lakh women were being given only ₹500 as part of the Ladki Bahin Yojana. This was, however, immediately clarified by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare. These women are already beneficiaries of another government welfare scheme, the Namo Shetkari Samman Yojana, which provides their households with ₹1,000 a month. To fill the gap, the state is providing ₹500 as income support, so that those women will now receive ₹1,500, the same they would have got under the Ladki Bahin scheme.
Tatkare added that nothing was changed since July 3, 2024 and the entire process was done in a transparent and fair manner.
Addressing the Misinformation – No Decrease in Ladki Bahin Yojana
Minister Tatkare lashed out at the opposition leaders for spreading lies and confusion among the beneficiaries. She speculated that either their knowledge of government policies is limited or they are acting in frustration, since the program has been an overwhelming success. Her comments sought to re-establish public confidence and quell lingering questions about the program.

How All Women Will Get Equal Support
Here’s how the scheme is set up:
- Every month, women outside other schemes get ₹1,500 directly.
- Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, women getting benefits lower than ₹1,500 from other schemes are paid the difference.
- Under this scheme, people who are getting ₹1,000 under the Namo Shetkari Samman Yojana will get ₹500 in addition.
- This guarantees that no deserving woman is neglected, regardless of what other assistance she may be receiving.
At a time when financial stability means empowerment for women, the Maharashtra government’s focus on the Ladki Bahin Yojana (an initiative for girls and women) over and above other claims reflects its intent of providing constructive commitment over mere words. Through transparency, sufficient funding, and rapid clarifications, the administration aims to preserve trust and enhance the lives of women throughout the state.
